AC Milan Manager Stefano Pioli Explains Samuel Chukwueze’s Bench Role Against Juventus
AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli has explained why he opted to start Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze on the bench during the Serie A clash with Juventus. Despite Chukwueze’s strong recent performances for the Rossoneri, his role as a substitute against Maximiliano Allegri’s team surprised many.
The team listed Chukwueze among the substitutes, and he replaced Christian Pulisic only seven minutes before the game ended. This decision has led some to criticize Pioli, accusing him of relegating Chukwueze to the bench.
Pioli defended his strategy by highlighting his preference for a more balanced midfield. “I preferred Pulisic in the match against Juventus. Chukwueze is doing well, but currently, I choose not to sacrifice an extra midfielder to include four attacking players. Therefore, Chukwueze is the one who most often misses out,” Pioli told Milan News.
