Alabama is planning to name a field after their legendary coach, Nick Saban, but not everyone’s happy about it. It’s been less than a year since Saban retired, and some people think it’s too soon to honor him in this way.
Football expert Joshua Perry said, “I don’t like it right now.” He also mentioned that the recent SEC Media Day felt like a “Nick Saban memorial.” Perry pointed out that Saban is already getting an office in Bryant Denny Stadium, and now this field naming feels like too much too soon. He also thinks this might put pressure on the new coach, Kalen DeBoer. Perry said, “If I’m Kalen DeBoer, I don’t like very much of this.” It seems like there’s a lot of focus on Saban, and it might be hard for DeBoer to step out of his shadow.
Is it too soon for Alabama to commit to naming the field after Nick Saban?
