Having the Chicago Sky rookie out for the remainder of the season was highly unexpected. With the WNBA season starting immediately after her final collegiate season, Angel Reese had very little time to rest. Hence, while she takes this on a positive note for a little break, it certainly is disheartening for what the season could have been. In cases of glum, the Chi-Town Barbie has a host of support to fall back on.
Gilbert Arenas was among the notable figures to send out his wishes first. Impressed by Reese’s rebounding record, he gave the rookie her flowers, while optimistically noting that the rookie will have a chance to break her own record next year. “She has the single season rebound record and now shes out which means (next season) she has wiggle room to break her own record,” the former Washington Wizards’ star wrote.
446 rebounds, 12 from her last game, and Reese finished her campaign extending her record for most in a single season, surpassing Sylvia Fowles’ 404. With 27 double-doubles along, the Sky rookie then fell short of just one more to tie the season-most with Alyssa Thomas. Always appreciative of this talent, WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes also had a few words to chime in with.
Sympathizing with her situation, Swoopes cheered Reese on and wrote, “Damn kid! Keep your head up and know that it’s all a part of God’s plan. You have truly been remarkable this season! #minorsetbackforamajorcomeback.”

In the 92-78 winning game against the Los Angeles Sparks, Reese injured her wrist as she would later announce on X. The rookie exited the court 3:20 left on the clock for a timeout, after scoring a 25-foot three-pointer. But Brianna Turner would enter in her stead when the roster got back on her court.
“What a year. I never would have imagined the last bucket of my rookie season would be a 3 but maybe that was God saying give them a taste of what they will be seeing more of in Year 2 lol” she wrote, witnessing a wave of support in minutes next.
Angel Reese’s fans and celebrity friends are here for her!
Fans have poured in kind words on social media to lift the spirits of the WNBA star, praying for her quick recovery. 2X WNBA champion A’ja Wilson also showed her support for the rookie, leaving two white heart emojis in Reese’s comment section.

The news did not evade Tennis star Coco Gauff either who offered mental support to Reese, expressing “So proud of you!!!”
Among her teammates, Elizabeth Williams hyped up her rookie, writing, “League changer. Your future is bright, Angel.” Averaging 13.6 points and 13.1 rebounds in 34 games, Reese was among the favorites in the Rookie of the Year race, ceratinly leaving her teammates proud. “This is just the beginning for you! You should be so proud!” Michaela Onyenwere also dropped.
Looking at the positives of the instance, Reese had expressed that she is greatful or some mental and physical. After recently revealing the horrid experiences of hate, fans seems to agree with the rookie, assuring her unending support. “You’re incredible. Take your mental and physical break, and don’t rush your process. You’re so loved! Until then, we can’t wait for Season 2.”
The details of the injury is not known yet, with the team only announcing she’d be ruled out for the rest of the season. ‘The team will provide medical updates later,’ the statement read. Until then and beyond, Reese has all the blessings she will need. “God will heal, and you will be back better than ever!!!!” an IG follower wrote.
An incredible season cut short for the 22-year-old, but as she said, she just gave a taste of what is to come ahead.
