Being “Reactive” Against Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso Not Enough Claims 6’4 Storm Star as She Reveals Another Trait to Stop the Sky Rookies

The rookies in the Chicago Sky roster again proved their impeccable chemistry by topping another leading team in the league. Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso brought a combined 36 points in the Climate Pledge Arena. While this has become a go-to for the young talents, their defense against the fourth-best team in the WNBA definitely outshined any other aspect last night. Consequently, the center on the opposing team has nothing but compliments for the two.

Ezi Magbegor spoke up on why she could not perform much better against the young team of Chicago. She said in the postgame press conference, “Yeah I mean I can do a better job of staying foul discipline. Obviously, Angel and Kamilla are great players.” Telling how she can improve her skills against the rebounding rookies, she said, “Just being more proactive rather than reactive defensively.”

Last night, the visiting Sky’s lottery picks collected a combined 18 points to bolster the team’s defense. This number made up for over 51% of the team’s total rebounds. Moreover, their 2 blocks each combined for 4 of the 5 blocks that Chicago created against Seattle.

In addition to this, the squad’s overall higher field goal percentage and three-point percentage also aided the overall numbers. But as for Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso, let us see how the two have worked together so far.

Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso: The unexpected duo turned defensive missiles

When Cathy Engelbert announced that the Sky would draft Kamilla Cardoso as the third overall pick and Angel Reese as the seventh overall pick, many fans were not ready for the combination. However, over the period of time, we have seen them achieve various milestones on both individual and pair levels. While the ‘Killa Milla’ of Dawn Staley could not make as explosive an entry into the WNBA as she would’ve wanted because of her early season shoulder injury, Angel Reese did make up for the deficiency.

In fact, in May itself, she delivered great numbers for her team. With time, her performance has only electrified the crowd. Today, she stands as the only rookie to have a double-double streak of 12 games. Interestingly, she does not seem to be stopping anytime soon. That’s the very reason why she became the Rookie of the Month for June.

As for her match with the South Carolina alum, they became the first rookie duo since 1998 to record multiple double-double games in late June. Since then, the Sky has won 2 games and lost 2 as well. Still, they are slowly and steadily moving to a higher standing in the league. It will be quite interesting to see how the final game of Seattle vs Chicago due tomorrow goes and who gets the better of the other.
