Since the Saudi-backed LIV Golf came into being, there have been harsh criticisms levied against it. One of the key criticisms the tour has faced since its inception in 2022 is the lack of success of its players in major tournaments. When you take a chunk of the best players in the world, success becomes a prerequisite.
Brooks Koepka was the first LIV Player to win a major championship as part of the circuit when he won the PGA Championship in 2023. He even finished second at the 2023 Masters Tournament. However, his 2024 season was disappointing, as he failed to finish in the top 25 at any of the four majors. Outside of Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau is the only other LIV player to have won a major. Unlike Koepka, he did it in his second year at LIV, when he finished T6 at the Masters, 2nd at the PGA Championship, and clinched the title at the 2024 US Open. The legendary run in 2024 made him the most successful LIV player in the majors. And now, reckoning is here. The 2025 Masters Tournament.
There is pressure on DeChambeau and LIV to see him deliver the goods, just like last year. A victory at Augusta against a stacked field will be enough to rubbish the rumors that players’ quality shows a significant downtick after joining LIV Golf.
Bryson DeChambeau reflects on the upcoming Masters
Speaking to the press at LIV Golf Miami, DeChambeau recalled what was special about the Masters. After all, the Augusta is where he made his first ever ace in professional golf. “I honestly love the atmosphere. It’s one of the most peaceful places. My favorite moment is when the sun is kind of setting and everybody has kind of gotten off the golf course and you’re just hitting golf balls by yourself or a couple other pros are out there hitting golf balls, and you see the sun going down.”
“That’s what I look forward to a lot coming into next week, other than playing well and giving myself a chance. I really enjoy those moments after the round practicing hard into the night.” DeChambeau further added. His mindset has never been better, according to the two-time Major winner. His YouTube Channel is seeing great success, and everything is trending in a forward direction for the 31-year-old. “I’d say I’m in a great frame of mind. I’m happy about life. Got a lot of positive things going for me, not only in YouTube but outside of that, in business, and just the people that I have around me,” the LIV Golfer stated.
At the 2019 Masters, Bryson Dechambeau made his first ever hole in one on the 16th hole.
Is Augusta National the coolest place to make your first ace? It’s gotta be.

However, his recent actions on the course suggest a tinge of frustration. For his recent video, ‘Can I Break Par with The Cheapest Golf Clubs on Temu?’, DeChambeau was visibly struggling. After an errant shot, he quipped out loud, “How am I gonna do the Masters?” Although meant in jest, there is a slight tinge of nervous anticipation associated with the statement.
Despite that, Bryson DeChambeau insists that he does not believe that the stakes are high for him at the Augusta National. “Putting on a green jacket, winning the U.S. Open trophy, winning the Open Championship, the PGA Championship, that’s all great. But really what matters to me is the people that I have around me and who I can trust.” The two-time US Open Champion explained.
Whether he likes it or not, there is pressure on him and LIV to deliver. However, DeChambeau is not the only LIV Golfer at Georgia this year for the Masters.
LIV Golf at Augusta National Golf Course
There are 6 players currently on the LIV Golf circuit who have won at the Augusta National Golf Course. Sergio Gracia, Charl Schwartzel, Patrick Reed, Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson, Bubba Watson, and most recently Jon Rahm have all won the coveted green jacket during their golfing careers, which makes them eligible to compete in the Masters Tournament for life.
Cameron Smith, Brooks Koepka, and DeChambeau had won a major championship in the last 5 years, which makes them eligible as well. Tyrrell Hatton finished T9 at the Masters last year, which qualified him, and Chilean golfer Joaquin Niemann qualified as he was awarded an invitation by the Augusta National Masters Committee. A deserved one, as Niemann has been doing a brilliant job in the LIV circuit this year.
