Burned in Fire, Oklahoma Wrestler Asks Wrestling Community for Major Help

The Oklahoma wildfires are currently creating a severe ruckus. Just weeks after the devastating California fires, Oklahoma saw multiple wildfires erupt, causing severe damage to property and life. The unfortunate reality is that it has led to evacuations in specific communities due to the extreme conditions. Amidst the chaos wrought by these fires, the wrestling community has had to deal with some painful news as well.

The wrestling community is in mourning over the news about the Ferguson family consisting of Deb, Allen, Colt, Corey, Will, and Preston, who have been severely impacted by the fires. The Chandler Youth Wrestling Club’s Facebook page posted the update that Allen, the father, and Will, one of the sons, sustained burns in the wildfires and called for the community’s prayers. “Wrestling family your prayers are needed to the greatest extent!! One of wrestlers and his father/coach were burned in a fire today!!” This message was reshared on news outlet O Wrestle’s X handle.

However, Seth Duckworth of O Wrestle shared the most unfortunate update to this situation. As per the GoFundMe set up by the family, Allen succumbed to his injuries and passed away on the 15th of March. That said, their son, Will, is still fighting strong in the hospital, though he “faces a long road to recovery.

The GoFundMe page was shared by Duckworth in a bid to the wrestling community to support the family. The ongoing healthcare bills are a burden for the family, and they have turned to the wider community during this challenging time. The fundraiser has a goal of $25,000, and $8,850 have been raised within 4 hours of posting. There’s still a way to go, but accruing that amount within just a few hours is a good sign.

The Oklahoma wildfires

The fire management chief of Oklahoma Forestry Services, Andy James, reported 150 fires that took place in the state. Following that, the State Patrol reported on X that powerful, dust-laden winds had caused several other tractor-trailers to overturn during this calamity.

And it might not end very soon. The forecasters have warned that the threat will continue throughout the weekend, with a chance of heavy storms. Not just that, the state is also under threats of heavy rainfall that might lead to flash floods through the parts of the East Coast on Sunday. The thunderstorms could form into a powerful one further to the south on Saturday.

As per the Storm Prediction Center, areas at high risk include parts of Mississippi, such as Jackson and Hattiesburg, as well as Alabama cities like Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, as Adn reports. Deadly storms and tornadoes may also impact eastern Louisiana, western Georgia, central Tennessee, and the western Florida Panhandle.
