The sun is shining on the Colorado Buffaloes and it looks to be blinding! After a great performance against the NDSU Bisons, the team also raked in a record viewership record of 5.6 million. Shedeur paved the way for the victory against North Dakota and is gradually moving up the leaderboard when it comes to the top QBs of the 2024 class. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for his rival Carson Beck who failed to make a mark against the Clemson Tigers.
Georgia Bulldogs steered clear of the might of the Tigers by a staggering score of 34-3, with Carson Beck steering their ship to glory. Beck’s standalone stats include 278 in passing yards and 2 completed touchdowns, which while being exceptional numbers, aren’t big enough to put him among the best of the QBs this season. That might be the reason why he was left out of the PFF Top-10 list that was released recently, while the Colorado prodigy rests easy among them.
Shedeur outranks famed rival Carson Beck in PFF Top-10
On 2nd September, the list of the Highest Graded Week 1 Quarterbacks was released and saw Jaxson Dart of the Ole Miss Rebels leading it with a 95.7 rating. Other names on the list included USC’s Miller Ross, the Terrapins’ Billy Edwards Jr., and the Hurricanes’ Cam Ward. Yet, the name that caught most eyes was Shedeur Sanders, who’s been regularly criticized by the haters but is now answering them with his performance.

The Colorado QB sat at the 9th position with a rating of 90.7 after just the first game of the season. During the NDSU game, he threw out 445 passing yards and finished 4 touchdowns, almost twice as of Carson Beck’s stats in the Clemson game. As per predictions for this season, Shedeur has been touted to be one of the top-3 picks in the 2025 NFL Draft and if he remains consistent, then he can very well go on to fulfill these expectations. As of now, Shedeur looks to be a Heisman Trophy favorite with even Stephen A. Smith backing him.

Shedeur blew everyone away with the 2 touchdowns he completed, showcasing a speed that isn’t usually seen from a quarterback. Furthermore, he recorded better numbers than Travis Hunter in the game against the Bisons as well, proving that he might just be as good as the two-way athlete if not better. Smith, who has been a Hunter fan for a long time, had to switch up and choose Shedeur as the more probable answer for his decision. As per Smith, Shedeur can easily “play wide receiver with his speed.”
“Now me personally, I’m going to go with the quarterback because I see how important the quarterback position is in the National Football League but it (drafting Travis) does give me cause to pause,” Smith further added.
While most of the fans and experts have always chosen Hunter over Shedeur because of his dual-threat capabilities, the QB could just go on to prove everyone wrong with more and more unfurling of this rollercoaster of a season.
