MLB superstar Mookie Betts has opened up about his personal fears, particularly his unease with ghosts. The Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder, known for his prowess on the field and his unyielding confidence, has shed light on a side of himself rarely seen by fans: his genuine fear of the supernatural.
Celebrated for his impressive career achievements and charismatic personality, Betts also recently became the target of online trolls who mocked him for his admitted fear of ghosts. In a recent conversation with ‘Big Dumper,’ he revealed why the thought of ghosts unsettles him.
Mookie is not ready for spooky
Mookie Betts on his new show On Base With Mookie Betts revealed to star guest Cal Raleigh as to why he is so terrified of ghosts. “If I was to ever find out there was a ghost that was in the room or whatever, I would absolutely loose my mind, and for the rest of my life I would be scarred,” Betts told Cal.

“Because I feel like that ghost is not confined to this room, he can go wherever I’m going and so I don’t know them they don’t know me and I don’t know if we can develop a relationship or anything so you know what just stay over there.”
Agreeing with Cal he also said that not all ghosts may be bad but if you encounter a bad one then all might seem bad. This is not the first time the player has opened up about his fear. On the contrary, Betts has more than once declined to stay in the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee, which was built in 1893 and is (allegedly) haunted. Although at the time he did not believe in ghosts and had stayed at the hotel premises once, he couldn’t sleep out of paranoia.
Clapping back at trolls
In a world where social media can often amplify negativity, Betts’ approach to handling online criticism with dignity and openness sets a positive example. After becoming a target of online trolls for his open proclamation about his fear of ghosts, the 2x WS champion used his social media power to shut down trolls.

He took to Instagram to ask his followers and critics alike why people are trolling him for his fears, and he also wanted to know who these people are and why they seem to have a fascination with ghosts.
“So I have a question for everyone out there. Why is it a problem? Why does everybody want to make fun of me because I don’t really like ghosts? I mean there can’t be that many ghost lovers out there who just wanna see ghosts.”
Accompanied by a quirky caption: “Can I just avoid ghosts in peace ?!
,” he concludes his video by sincerely asking the ghost-loving people to identify themselves so that he may have a chat with them and understand what it is about ghosts that they love. With his fun and subtle way of dealing with the trolls, one thing is for sure, while Betts doesn’t love ghosts, the ghosts are sure to love him!
