PGA Tour player Billy Horschel has likened TGL’s stadium to playing at one of English Premier League football’s biggest venues, ahead of the new indoor golf league’s debut next week. The TGL’s opening night will be broadcast live on Fox Sports and Kayo on Wednesday, January 8, and Horschel believes the experience for players and fans within the arena will be akin to attending a home game of his beloved West Ham United at the London Stadium. “It’s like playing at London Stadium!” Horschel said of TGL’s Sofi Centre at Palm Beach State College in Florida. The brand-new venue boasts a massive golf simulator screen, standing 64 feet high by 53 feet wide, as well as a putting and short game area that’s the size of four basketball courts.
The concept, developed by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s company TMRW, caters well to both new fans and traditional golf lovers. “For the hardcore golf fan, they are going to enjoy all the numbers and data,” Horschel told Sky Sports. “The launch conditions, how much a ball has spun, how far did it go – they are going to get a kick out of that.” The screen will display all the data and numbers, providing a unique experience for fans. Horschel believes it’s going to work for everyone, with non-golf fans seeing something different and hardcore fans getting all the data and seeing players in a different light.
