Jerry Jones Advised to Hire ‘Mini Bill Belichick’ as Cowboys Owner Breaks Silence on Mike McCarthy’s Future

Seasons end, speculations begin!! The 2024 regular NFL season ended this Sunday, following which there have been constant conversations about what changes will happen in all teams before the 2025 season. The Dallas Cowboys particularly had a season to forget as they ended the season 7-10 with a loss against the Washington Commanders. The question here is will this loss and a dismal performance through the season urge Jerry Jones to make some HC changes?

Well, Mike McCarthy’s contract with the Cowboys is ending on January 14th and if they are looking for a change there, Keyshawn Johnson has some advice to share. Talking about it on SPEAK, the former Cowboys wide receiver said, “If it opens up and if it is available, then Vrable is a pretty good choice.” Johnson shed high praise on Vrabel even comparing him to one of the all-time great coaches, “What you get with Vrable is, you’re going to get a mini Bill Belichick,” he said.

Vrabel is a Patriots legend and has worked closely with Belichick during his time with the Pats. And while the former Patriots linebacker might not have the same experience as the legendary Patriots coach, he would surely bring to the team Belichick’s philosophy of commitment to preparation, coupled with relentless attention to detail.

For now, though, it seems like the Cowboys are going to stick with McCarthy. Jones recently made his stance clear on his future with the Cowboys and how we would continue with his role. During the same conversation, the Cowboys owner also shared his thoughts on McCarthy’s future, “I don’t know that I am considering making a change is really what I’m trying to say. Mike’s one of the best coaches that I think there is. He was made the coach here because I thought that. And he’s done absolutely nothing to diminish my opinion of him as a coach.”

Will Mike McCarthy stay with Jerry Jones and the Cowboys?

Jerry Jones will ultimately be the one taking the call on whether he sticks with McCarthy or moves on, but when it comes to the HC, he is very willing to stay with the Cowboys.

McCarthy recently opened up about his future and said he ‘absolutely’ wants to be back. “I have a lot invested here, and the Cowboys have a lot invested in me,” he said. “Anytime you invest your time, energy, your belief, the connection you have and the relationships that are in place here, and the understanding of what the organization can do and is willing to do, those are all positive attributes that you take into account.”

The Mike McCarthy and Dallas Cowboys saga takes a new turn every day. It was reported that the Cowboys had recently denied an interview request to the Bears. This made it seem like the Cowboys were not interested in letting McCarthy go and were sticking with their head coach. But no, we have another twist in the tail. According to NFL Insider Dianna Russini, the Cowboys have done “a little bit of work on some head coaches” and it was “behind the scenes.”

Well, whether McCarthy will stay or leave, is still unsure, but one thing is clear, the Cowboys will certainly look to make some changes to the team. Whether they decide to stick with McCarthy and hire some young blood to help him out or they choose to go with a completely new HC, only time will tell.
