In a recent review of his last fight, Jonathan Haggerty admitted it was his worst fight camp ever. He considered pulling out because of health problems and the sudden passing of his uncle. However, these challenges only fueled his motivation to fight.

Jonathan Haggerty recently recounted the challenging lead-up to his defense of the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title against Felipe Lobo. He revealed that he had the worst fight camp because he wasn’t in his best condition. “The General” had a bad hand that prevented him from punching for three weeks, and burns on his feet had hampered his running and weight-cutting. Despite considering pulling out from the fight, Haggerty received even more shocking news from his father the night before the fight.
“The night before the fight. I actually got a knock on the door from my coach and my dad, telling me that my uncle passed away. It was a little bit hard, but I knew once the emotions were gone, I had to get on with the fight,” Haggerty recounted while speaking on his YouTube channel.
‘The General’ further revealed that he dedicated this fight to his uncle, who has always been there to support him. Haggerty also remembered the trash talk before the fight, which he thinks played a big part in making it such a memorable and exciting contest.

“It was a great back-and-forth fight,” Haggerty said, adding “especially to be debuting on Sky Sports. What a way to debut on Sky Sports, eh? I respect every fighter for getting in that ring. I respect every fighter. I respect him more for standing toe-to-toe with me and being a man of his word, telling me he was going to come and put it on me because that’s literally what he did. But then he got caught.”
