Kirby Smart’s Recruiting Machine Snubbed as Josh Pate Picks Shocking No. 1 Over Georgia Bulldogs

2024 has been rough for Kirby Smart. When Paul Finebaum mentioned that Kirby would be the perfect “next Nick Saban,” everything was all glitters and gold for Georgia HC. Being mentored by Nick Saban, Smart has always followed the defense playbook that Saban practiced at Alabama. He even managed to tackle and steal the SEC championship cup away from Saban back in 2022. However, everything crumbled down when RaRa Thomas was arrested and the crime culture in Georgia was exposed. While RaRa has been dismissed from the team, Smart has lost yet another good spot he had held.

Josh Pate went on to talk about all things recruitment on his show Late Kick on August 11th. “Oregon was up there, Oklahoma, Liberty, Georgia, North Texas, UNC, UCF, Texas, USC—those were your top 10,” Pate mentioned. As per him, these teams make up for the top offensive lines in the country. However, when the question came down to recruitment, Pate had 2 picks, Ohio State and Oregon.

With TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins in the backfield, Ohio is looking to become a solid powerhouse. The same goes for Oregon. “if we’re talking one-two combinations at wide receiver, Tez Johnson and Evan Stewart’s about as good as it gets,” Pate mentioned about Oregan.

However, one thing seemed off. Where’s Georgia “Georgia was a top-five offense last year. Georgia could very well be a top-five offense this year,” Pate mentioned. On the offensive end, the Bulldogs have got Carson Beck. The kid led the team to a 13-1 win during the Orange Bowl. He is exceptional when it comes down to working in the pockets and has a solid accuracy of around 77%. Not only that, the Bulldogs also got Dom Lovett as the WR and Oscar Delp and Lawson Luckie as tight ends.

Wouldn’t this be enough to deal with Ohio and Oregon? Maybe, but will it be enough to deal with Alabama

A tide is coming

We all know that the perfect offense can only break the perfect defense. That is where Kalen DeBoer comes in. The man is an offensive mastermind and we have all witnessed his greatness when he took Micheal Penix and made him a Heisman winner. And also led Sioux Falls to 3 championship wins. DeBoer has gotten a good hold of the Tides, especially their ace QB Jalen Milroe. The youngster has already seen a solid improvement in his overall accuracy and we even saw him land an impressive 50-yard touchdown during the scrimmage.

The offensive side of Alabama is secured and set to go. Coming to defense, DC Kane Wommack made it very clear back on August 1st that Keion Sabb was going to get it done. Sabb had previously taken the Wolverines to the championship win and is now getting ready to be paired with Malachi Moore on the defense. This would make the Crimson Tide quite a fearsome opponent for the Bulldogs. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
