Kliff Kingsbury Clears Stance on Commanders Exit as Caleb Williams’ Bears Announce Big HC Move

With the 2024 NFL season ending this Sunday, conversations have started around expected changes that can happen in teams before the 2025 season begins. The Chicago Bears especially had a season to forget as they ended the season at the bottom of NFC North with a 5-12 record. This season looked like it would be a decent one for the Bears, but they were completely let down by their coaching team. Bears are now actively looking for an HC, but the question is who will they go for?

Well, we might just have the answer to that. NFL insider Ian Rapoport recently shared a post on X and revealed that Kliff Kingsbury has received a request from the Bears. Rapoport shared, “#Commanders OC Kliff Kingsbury has received requests from the #Bears and #Saints, sources say and Chicago would signal a reunion with Caleb Williams.”

Kingsbury to Bears could be a great move, and it seems more than possible now as the Commanders OC revealed how at some point he does want to be an HC again. He said, “At some point. We’ll see how everything plays out, but I’m very happy here.” The Commanders OC right now is focused on the upcoming game vs Buccaneers, but who knows what he might decide when the season ends.

The biggest asset that the Bears have currently is undoubtedly Caleb Williams, and whoever they decide to bring in as HC, their highest priority will be to train and develop the Bears quarterback. This is what makes Kingsbury’s move to the Bears a perfect one. Williams and Kingsbury have worked with each other previously and share a great bond. The pair worked together at USC last season and formed a close relationship, add to that Kingsbury’s knack for training and developing young talents and it is a no-brainer.

Caleb Williams wants Kliff Kingsbury as HC

Yes, you read that right!! Caleb Williams wants Kingsbury to join the Bears as he clearly stated how comfortable he is with the Commanders’ OC. When Williams was asked about the possibility of the Bears getting in Kingsbury, he said, “I know what type of guy he is. I know he loves football. I know he wants to win. He’s a competitor. And so in many different aspects that I was just speaking of, I’ve been around him. So I would say that being around him, knowing him, asking him questions and things like that, I think obviously if he was here, I’d probably have more to say. But I think he fits a bunch of those qualities that I said.”

The big question that now remains is while Kingsbury would be interested in an HC move, will he look away from Washington? It has been a great season for the Commanders and Kingsbury had a big role to play in that. The team is clearly on the up and there seems to be no reason for the OC to leave them at this point. The Commanders are in the playoffs and who knows what they will achieve this season and how it will affect Kingsbury’s decision, but one thing is sure, Commanders will not let him leave easily.

Caleb Williams wants Kingsbury to join the Bears, Kingsbury also wants the HC role, and now the Bears have reached out to Kingsbury, all this would point towards a Kingsbury to Bears deal. This though is not confirmed, but the Bears do require an HC and someone who can work with Williams closely, so the question remains, if not Kingsbury, then who?
