Michigan’s Next Step After Bryce Underwood Commitment Raises Intrigue Over Sherrone Moore’s Masterplan

When you are filling Jim Harbaugh’s shoes, you have no other option than being a perfectionist. Looks like Sherrone Moore has taken up his HC role in the Michigan Wolverines too seriously. So much so that even after his Bryce Underwood landing mission was an absolute hit, the debut HC is in no mood to hit the settle button. Right now, Moore is planning for the next season to bring the championship trophy home. But before that, he needs to address his QB woes and cook up a master plan to emerge stronger.

Yes, finally Moore can now let out a sigh of relief. Being the first-time HC, his season has been a bit of a dud. Already, he had been thrown under the bus now that Michigan’s playoff journey is likely to come to an end. But at least Moore could save his coaching job. Even though he had landed his share of high-level recruits when he was on staff, holding the HC position, he landed the biggest of them all. All thanks to 5-star QB and the No.1 player of the 2025 recruiting class, Underwood. Yes, for the Wolverines, the athlete flipped his commitment from the LSU Tigers. For all those who thought that Moore’s recruiting magic was over, hold on tighter! The Michigan Football Recruiting Insider, Aidan Sen, has some good news as he tweeted, “Per sources, despite securing a commitment from 5 ⭐ Bryce Underwood, Michigan is still exploring the prospect of taking a 2nd QB in the 2025 H.S. Class.”

Now we get why, even after landing Underwood, Moore cannot sit back and relax. The Wolverines have been the defending champions in 2023. This year they could not even make it to the playoffs. So by hook or by crook, they need to address the loopholes at the earliest. After all, this season had given him such bitter experiences when it came to the QB dilemma.

Not one, not two, but THREE of the Michigan quarterbacks failed to leave a mark, including Jack Tuttle, Davis Warren, and Alex Orji. So as per the tweet, “The Wolverines are hoping to elevate the floor of the QB room and increase competition ahead of next season.” Now will this time too the GOAT would come to their help?

Sherrone Moore’s secret weapon for the Bryce Underwood flip

It was no easy task to reel in Underwood. After all, who would have trusted a debut HC when you had already given your words to someone as strong as Brian Kelly? However, the Wolverines never gave up, and for over a year, they tried convincing the Belleville, MI native. Do you know that Underwood grew up just 30 minutes from Ann Arbor?

Sadly, this emotional factor did not come to any help in flipping the young chap. So Moore had to come up with something that would attract Underwood to the Wolverines. And VOILA! The debut HC came off with a grand plan. They had already had a lucrative NIL offer of reportedly $12 million handy to seal the deal, but Moore tried something different! Going by the sources, Michigan boosted the flipping process involving the great Tom Brady in it.

The former Michigan QB and the greatest quarterback in NFL history had given his best in influencing Bryce Underwood’s decision to count on Sherrone Moore’s program. The two got acquainted over numerous FaceTime calls. As CBS reporter Matt Zenitz wrote, “Moore and Michigan general manager Sean Magee played critical roles in securing Underwood’s commitment. But Brady’s involvement provided an invaluable boost.” Not sure who the backup QB is yet, but you can bet Moore has Tom Brady on speed dial, ready to drop some wisdom.
