Now we get why, even after landing Underwood, Moore cannot sit back and relax. The Wolverines have been the defending champions in 2023. This year they could not even make it to the playoffs. So by hook or by crook, they need to address the loopholes at the earliest. After all, this season had given him such bitter experiences when it came to the QB dilemma.
Not one, not two, but THREE of the Michigan quarterbacks failed to leave a mark, including Jack Tuttle, Davis Warren, and Alex Orji. It was no easy task to reel in Underwood. After all, who would have trusted a debut HC when you had already given your words to someone as strong as Brian Kelly? However, the Wolverines never gave up, and for over a year, they tried convincing the Belleville, MI native. Do you know that Underwood grew up just 30 minutes from Ann Arbor?
Sadly, this emotional factor did not come to any help in flipping the young chap. So Moore had to come up with something that would attract Underwood to the Wolverines. And VOILA! The debut HC came off with a grand plan. They had already had a lucrative NIL offer of reportedly $12 million handy to seal the deal, but Moore tried something different!
