The 7-0 streak is working wonders for the Miami Hurricanes! Fresh off an exciting 52-45 win over Louisville last week, the Hurricanes are now gearing up to take on their next opponent. With seven straight victories under their belt, Miami has been on fire since the season kicked off. What more do they need to do to earn the trust of top recruits?
As they prepare for the showdown against the Florida State Seminoles, Miami has already started eyeing players who might flip schools. The recruiting game is heating up, and the Hurricanes are ready to make some moves. Now, the big question is—who’s going to get swayed, and which schools are about to lose their prized recruits?
Today on a recent episode of the On3 Recruits host Josh Newberg revealed the Miami Hurricanes’ key target prospects for their recruiting class ahead of their game against Florida State. Josh mentioned the alleged top five star recruits that Miami will try to flip, saying, “Florida State Seminoles limp into town, the rivals, and we know lots of recruits will be in attendance for this one. So, we’re looking at some flip targets on campus: you got DJ Pickett, Solomon Thomas, Ben Hanks Jr., Tarvos Alford, Jarquez Carter, and Shamar Arnoux.” Well, it looks like the Canes have already created a massive list of recruits.
However, the major highlight of the discussion was Zephyrhills cornerback DJ Pickett, who is currently committed to the LSU Tigers. But the question is, will Mario Cristobal be successful in flipping his loyalty towards Miami? If Canes gets DJ into the team, it’s going to be a very valuable addition, as the young player has recorded 43 catches for 886 yards with 12 touchdowns in the year 2022. Now you can understand why the stakes are so high on him.
Well, there are also high chances that the Miami Hurricanes will try to get offensive lineman Solomon Thomas on the team. The flip game got much more intense than you could imagine. The five-star recruit Solomon committed to Florida State, and now that the team is going to face the Hurricanes next week, it will be interesting to see if Thomas could resist Canes’ undefeated aura and stick to Florida.
Apart from DJ and Thomas, the Canes will also focus on Newberry’s defensive lineman Jarquez Carter, who has recently pledged to Ohio State. And how can we miss out on Washington’s star cornerback, Ben Hanks Jr., who is continuing his family legacy by getting into the Florida Gators? Let’s see who’s going to be on team Hurricanes. For now, let’s talk about Miami’s already committed high-end prospects for 2025.
Miami Hurricanes earning fresh prospects
Even before the season’s end, the Miami Hurricanes are building momentum for next year’s recruiting class by securing commitments from top-tier freshmen. The list is quite long and impressive. In July, Bradenton Academy’s four-star linebacker Gavin Nix committed to the Hurricanes. The main reason behind Gavin’s decision was the consistency and love the staff showed towards him. Talking about consistency, head coach Mario Cristobal is the main reason prospects are getting attracted to the program. In the same month, Jacksonville Mandarian’s four-star safety, Hylton Stubbs, flipped his commitment from the USC Trojans and got into the program, showing immense belief in the HC. “I believe in coach Mario Cristobal’s leadership and mature staff,” he said. Well, that’s a straight fact, and it’s quite visible in Miami’s performance in the ongoing season.
If you think there is no other player added to the list, then you are wrong. The list continues with Columbus High School’s four-star recruit Bryce Fitzgerald joining the program in mid-August with a desire to play for his home team. Moreover, the Canes also bagged an exceptionally talented offensive freshman player, Bishop Gorman’s five-star offensive guard, SJ Alofaituli, even after getting offers from other high-end teams like Alabama, Colorado, etc.
With their sights set on next year, they’re likely already gearing up for another successful season for 2025. We’ll see how many more top recruits the Canes can attract as they face off against Florida State in their upcoming game.
