Well, the Dallas Cowboys are again flirting with college coaches. No, we are no longer talking about Deion Sanders anymore. It’s someone who knows Dallas better than anyone. And also comes with his fair share of proven experience both in college and the NFL. So, whom do you think we are talking about here?
As per Dallas reporter Nick Harris, the Cowboys are interviewing Oregon Ducks RBs coach Ra’Shaad Samples. Now, those of you don’t know who Samples is. Allow me to break it down for you. See, Samples joined the Ducks as their RBs coach after spending a season with Arizona State. There he was, a receivers coach and a passing game coordinator. But those aren’t the only places where Samples has coached in his career. His resume also boasts offensive positions in clubs like Houston Cougars, Texas Longhorns and SMU Mustangs.

Besides just coaching in college, Samples also had the chance to gain some valuable experience in the NFL. Like he was an RBs coach under Sean McVay’s Rams in 2022. But the thing that truly makes this probable appointment stand out is Samples’ strong Dallas roots. He had already spent 3 seasons as a coach at SMU. So, he could probably identify some key targets to help sort out the Cowboys running back department. And considering his recruitment history with the Ducks from five-star prospects like Dakorien Moore, 4-star RB Dierre Hill, WR Cooper Perry, and RB Jordon Davison, the Cowboys are finally getting someone worthy of the hype.
However, the interview is still in progress. So, only time will tell whether the Cowboys can bring some joy to the faces of their fans by appointing Samples. While Jerry Jones is probably working to bring Samples on board, the Dallas fans believe he isn’t the worst owner after all. Not because of trying to get the Samples deal over the line. But because of something else that shocked the sporting world.
Wait, what Dallas cheering for Jerry Jones!
Imagine the Ravens trading Lamar Jackson to the Cowboys for Dak Prescott. Just think about the meltdown of Ravens’ fans. And the jubilation in the faces of the Cowboys. Well, this didn’t happen. But something equivalent to this happened on Sunday in the NBA. Dallas Mavericks decided to trade their All-Star guard Luka Doncic, 26-year-old, for Los Angeles Lakers All-Star Power Forward Anthony Davis, who is 31 years old. This trade deal sent shockwaves not only to the whole NBA community. It also made its way to the NFL, whose fans were quick to mention Jerry Jones. See, Jones is quite an unpopular figure in Dallas because of his stubbornness in getting the right deals done.
So, the moment this news went viral. One user on X wrote, “When did Jerry Jones become the GM of the Mavs? Sounds like a trade he’d make.” While we don’t know if Jones would have probably gone with this trade, fans were quick to call him out, anyway. Another user on X wrote, “Jerry Jones thinks this was a great trade.” Besides just linking Jerry Jones’ influence to Luka Doncic’s trade. Fans also pointed out how Jones isn’t the worst owner in Dallas anymore, “The real winner in the Luka for AD trade. Jerry Jones. He is no longer the worst Dallas owner. Congrats Mr. Jones!”
Now, some of you may also know that Jones isn’t just the owner of the Dallas Cowboys. He is also the impromptu GM—and not the worst one anymore. That title has apparently gone to Nico Harrison, the Dallas Mavericks GM—as per this fan, “I just can’t believe there’s a GM more hated in Dallas than Jerry Jones.” Maybe this is the chance for Jones to win back the Cowboys Nation’s trust. Bring Samples to Dallas, and booyah—you are suddenly the best owner in Dallas.
