Kyrgios has become the national hero after Bernard Tomic, years after the latter made waves by reaching the quarterfinals of Wimbledon. Since his first participation in 2012, Kyrgios has recorded an 18-11 win-loss record at the hardcourt event. Surprisingly, the Aussie sensation also won his career’s longest match at Melbourne Park.

Popularly dubbed as ‘K squared,’ the dazzling duo managed to thrash four seeded pairs on their way to the summit clash and stunned everyone. Moreover, both players voiced their happiness after the impressive feat in Melbourne.

After making history at the Melbourne Slam, Kyrgios addressed the crowd with a heartfelt admission. He said, “I have won some big titles around the world, played some amazing matches. This one ranks (number) one for me. When I say I wouldn’t want to do it with anybody else, I mean it. It was just special. The whole week, winning each round, I didn’t take it for granted. I was soaking it in.”
Kyrgios sure knows how to excite crowds with his captivating performances, and, of course, we can’t forget about his surprise tweeners and underhand serves.
