Patriots Veteran Confesses Urge to Punch Bill Belichick After UNC HC Added 15 Players From Transfer Portal

Bill Belichick might’ve left the NFL, but let’s be honest, the league will never move on from him. The 72-year-old is busy with his new gig as UNC’s head coach, but his legacy is still making waves. Enter Devin McCourty, former Pats safety, who played for the team for twelve seasons, spilled the beans on life under the legendary coach. McCourty played his entire career under Bill’s mentorship. Talking about the grind of playing for the GOAT coach, McCourty didn’t hold back on how demanding things could get.

In a candid chat with sportscaster Dan Patrick, McCourty dropped some interesting tidbits about Belichick’s no-nonsense leadership. The three-time Super Bowl winner shared a hilarious rookie-year confession of his. Dan asked the former Pats player, “Did you ever want to punch him?” To this, the 37-year-old jokingly replied, “I mean how many times would be the question I remember we went my rookie ear we went nine straight days of full pads in practice in training camp you can’t do that anymore but that like that’s what we did my rookie year in training camp like we were ready to go by the time.” Doesn’t this remind you of that one teacher in school you always felt like punching in the face?

McCourty must’ve gotten a bit nostalgic during that chat with Dan. The host also threw in a question about whether he’d ever reunite with Belichick if the coach asked him to come back. And guess what? McCourty had an interesting answer for that. He said, jokingly, I would ultimately think about it. And I would think about my wife killing me so. I would have to say Bill I love you and respect you so much. But coaching is just not going to be in my future.” It seems like McCourty’s wife has had enough of football.

Anyway, as the NFL season heads into its final stretch, Bill Belichick is already making waves in his first year with UNC.

Bill Belichick made a major decision for Tar Heels football

This NFL season has been full of surprises, but nothing beats the shock of Bill Belichick choosing to coach college football. When news spread about Belichick interviewing with UNC, it took everyone by surprise. A few of us couldn’t believe that Bill would say yes to coaching at the college level. Even former Pats legend Tom Brady was certain that his coach wouldn’t end up at UNC. But then, boom! The legendary NFL coach signed with North Carolina. You can bet it must have broken the Jets‘ hearts, who were hoping to bring him in as their head coach after a nightmare season.

With Bill on board with the Tar Heels football, he’s jumping right in to leave his signature on the team. As per the reports, Belichick and his crew have already snagged 15 new transfers (talk about making moves). Plus, they’ve also managed to keep a few players who were about to hit the portal (nice save there). When Belichick joined UNC, a lot of people were curious about how a coach with Super Bowl rings but zero college coaching experience would handle it. But it seems like he’s got a knack for it.

Given his impressive start, it’ll be interesting to see what he does next and how he shapes things at UNC.
