How much do you know about Scottie Scheffler beyond his impressive dominance on the course? As a person, his friend Ryan Whitney describes him as “boring,” while his wife calls him the “weirdest person.” But is he really boring though? Well, with the recent revelation, he somehow managed to live up to the “boring” description.
Anyone who watched the men’s golf event at the Paris Olympics would agree that it was thrilling to see Scheffler make a comeback in the final round. With a bogey-free 62 and a total score of 265, 19-under-par, to secure the gold, it’s a victory that typically calls for a grand celebration. However, that’s not quite how the #1 celebrated it.
With hours left for the FedExCup Playoffs to start, Scheffler was asked about his gold medal and its celebration. The reporter asked if Scheffler did anything like watching a movie or something else with his medal on. In response, the apex golfer said, “Not really. I feel like one of the coolest things about it is there’s not really many rules of who can and can’t wear it. With the green jacket, it’s pretty strict, when you’re out representing the club with the green jacket.” As a two-time Masters winner, he knows that he cannot really do all of things wearing the highly coveted green jacket. But abiding by the rules makes him boring? No, not really!
The interviewer further asked him whether he used it as a ball marker at all. The 28-year-old had a simple three-word answer as he said, “No, nothing crazy,” and hence this is what could be regarded as him living up to the title his friend so lovingly gave him. While talking about it, he also added that his friends wanted him to bring the medal to take pictures. He reciprocated and revealed, “It was really fun bringing it out to the course, showing the kids out there, and taking pictures with my buddies. It was a lot of fun.” Interestingly, the #1 did nothing despite this as a celebration.
This celebration of Scheffler’s demeanor is totally opposite to the kind of season he has had. It has been insane, surprising, and shocking, to say the least. It all started with a win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and then Scheffler became the first player to defend his Players Championship title. Talk about interesting, right? It was then followed by amazing victories at the Masters and RBC Heritage. The winning trail didn’t stop here. The golfer went on to clinch the Memorial Tournament, shake hands with the Golden Bear, and then also win the Travelers Championship on the Tour.
But were these the most interesting moments he had this year? No, not at all! He became a father for the first time and also got arrested for the first time. These two surely take the lead! Bennett was born in May, and the golfer was arrested at the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla in the same month.

Yes, indeed, the golfer didn’t celebrate much after claiming gold at the Paris Olympics for his home country. However, the medal ceremony explained a lot about him as a person. During the ceremony, while singing the USA’s national anthem, the #1 golfer couldn’t control his emotions, and soon after, his eyes were full of tears. He claimed his second major title this year at the Masters, and despite the dominance so far, the golfer didn’t cry.
But when it came to the country, he wasn’t able to control his emotions. Something similar happened this year, even at the Masters. The 28-year-old was asked about what describes him the best. As a response, he said, “I’m a faithful guy; I believe in a creator, in Jesus. Ultimately, I think that’s what defines me the most. feel like I’ve been given a platform to compete and, you know, show my talent. It’s not anything that I did,” while appreciating the almighty.
