Seahawks Threaten Aaron Rodgers’ Oldest Player Tag as 42-Year-Old Jason Peters Eyes NFL Return

The NFL world has seen remarkable feats, particularly from players who continue to defy age barriers! Currently, Aaron Rodgers, the four-time MVP QB playing for the  New York Jets holds the astonishing title of the oldest active player in the NFL. However, with the recent narrative involving Jason Peters’ interaction with the Seahawks, things can possibly topple. Hosting Peters for a free-agent visit, the Seattle Seahawks are showing a keen interest in signing the 42-year-old offensive tackle.

The NFL Draft analyst for ESPN, @FieldYates, took to its Twitter handle to share the gist of the recent interaction. The post reads, “The Seahawks hosted veteran OT Jason Peters on a free agent visit. The 42-year-old played in 8 games with Seattle last season.

Given the sideling of the starting tackles Abraham Lucas and Charles Cross in 2023, and with Lucas on the PUP list in 2024, Peters can be a valuable addition to the team.

Starting his career as an undrafted free agent in 2004, he has accumulated altogether nine Pro Bowl selections, six All-Pro honors, and even a Super Bowl ring in 2018 with the Eagles. With his 248 regular-season games, he ranks at 59th in NFL history. And, if he plays a minimum of 12 games this year, he can easily break into the Top 40.

However, since Peters’ interaction with the team last season, the team has seen elemental changes in the staff roles. During last season, Pete Carroll was the HC, but now Mike Macdonald is overseeing the Seahawks. But, Jason Peters’ return seems a solid possibility. And, at the age of 42 (two years older than Aaron Rodgers), he may snatch the title to become the NFL’s eldest statesman.

Aaron Rodgers’ dominance as the oldest NFL player

Rodgers, who turned 40 in December last year, has held the oldest player tag since Tom Brady retired in 2022. With his second season with the New York Jets, he has undoubtedly proved that age is just a number. Even Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams had expressed his shock at learning that Rodgers has been in the NFL for 20 years, stating, “Aaron [has] 20 years in the NFL? Man!”

And, he makes sure to follow a supremely healthy lifestyle. Aaron Rodgers once stated, “About a decade ago, [I] cut out dairy and gluten… resulting in more energy.” With this, he has indeed proved his NFL longevity.

Now, as everyone has their eyes fixed on the 2024 season, Rodgers seeks to lead the Jets to the Super Bowl. However, Peters’ potential return is adding yet another layer to the narrative. But, indeed, each of these legends is carving their name in NFL history.
