Rebeca Andrade, Brazil’s very own Olympic gymnastics sensation, has been basking in the spotlight as the reigning vault queen. She’s not just any vault specialist—she’s also the 2023 World Champion on vault. But, oh boy, the game got a whole lot spicier when Simone Biles made her comeback in 2023 and bringing the vault world to its knees with her trademark Yurchenko Double Pike (a.k.a. the Biles II).
This vault is so tricky, it’s got a jaw-dropping 6.4 difficulty score in the International Gymnastics Federation’s Code of Points. Last year, Andrade managed to outshine Simone at the World Championships, but Simone was just gearing up. With her comeback, Simone has perfected her Biles II to the point where she doesn’t even need coach Lauren Landi’s help anymore.
This perfecting was seen at the Paris Olympics 2024 training where she showed off her difficulty dominance to all. But don’t think Rebeca is just sitting back and watching the vault battle from the sidelines. Rebeca Andrade has submitted her latest vault the Triple Twisting Yurchenko to the the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG). This vault, which she’s aiming to add to the FIG’s Code of Points with a 6.0 difficulty rating, is a game-changer.
