At the recently held Yucateco Boxing Lifetime Achievements Merit Award in Lagos, Senator John Owan Enoh, the Minister Of Sports Development, disclosed that the process of cementing a groundbreaking partnership between the Sports Ministry and Yucateco Boxing Promotions was at its final stages.
Enoh, in his address at the event, announced, “I am pleased to announce that the Ministry of Sports will be signing a groundbreaking partnership with Yucateco Boxing promotions in the coming days. This partnership is in line with my agenda on talent discovery and exposure.”

Chairman CEO Yucateco Boxing Promotions, Omonlei Yakubu Imadu, expressed readiness to work with the Ministry of Sports to change the phase and narratives of boxing in Nigeria.
“I have been receiving calls from boxing stakeholders both home and abroad on when this partnership will be formalized. On our part, we are ready and just waiting for the sports ministry to come through on their end,” Imadu stated.
“It will be a groundbreaking partnership that will completely change the phase of boxing in Nigeria, reason everyone is excited in anticipation.
“Our very reputable Sports Minister, Senator John Enoh, has confirmed the Ministry’s readiness to see this through in the coming days. So, let’s remain hopeful as we prepare for other events lined-up in the Yucateco boxing calendar.”
According to Imadu, the national open trial for season two of the Yucateco Boxing League will hold from Friday May 24th to Sunday 26th at the Brai Ayonote Boxing Gymnasium, National Stadium Surulere Lagos.
