Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) star Mike Perry found himself in the spotlight earlier this year—not just for losing an eight-round cruiserweight boxing match against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul but also for angering UFC superstar and BKFC co-owner Conor McGregor. The Irishman, reportedly unimpressed by ‘Platinum’s’ performance, sparked controversy with a dramatic social media post, declaring, “Hey Mike, you’re released. You can go compete in your smelly, dirty boxing championship thing.”
Since then, doubts have arisen regarding McGregor’s authority to fire someone from BKFC and Perry’s actual dismissal. The situation ignited widespread discussions, even prompting comments from BKFC President David Feldman. Feldman denied the rumors during an appearance on MMA Fighting in September, where he surprised fight fans worldwide—and particularly in Philadelphia—by revealing that the Michigan native was still part of BKFC. Feldman announced ‘Platinum’ was slated to compete in BKFC’s first-ever Philadelphia event on January 25 next year, possibly against former UFC Lightweight king Eddie Alvarez.
However, plans took an unexpected turn as Alvarez is now slated to face former UFC lightweight Jeremy Stephens, leaving Perry and his fans confused about the situation. Recently, Mike Perry spoke on the Overdogs podcast, where the host asked for clarity, “Have they offered you somebody, and you turned them down? Is that happening?” Perry denied turning down opponents, instead attributing his situation to his disappointing loss to ‘The Problem Child’ in July.
‘Platinum’ explained, “No, I think they are just trying to find the right thing that they can’t seem to make happen. They don’t want to be the guy fighting me with no gloves on after I lost that last fight with gloves on. I’m pissed, and I want this. I’m in the gym; I’m working.”

The host further dismissed any malicious intent from McGregor or BKFC, adding, “I think it goes back to what me and Mac have been saying for many months now. It’s going to be really tough to find you an opponent because so many people are just turning it down. However, even if Perry was indeed let go from BKFC by Conor McGregor, his former opponent Jake Paul might have an opportunity lined up for him. But what role could it be? A manager? A fighter? Or something entirely different? Let’s delve deeper to uncover the possibilities.
What job does Jake Paul have for Mike Perry after McGregor’s dismissal?
The feud between Jake Paul and Conor McGregor has been building since the Youtuber’s’ rise in the combat sports world. ‘The Notorious’ has always dismissed the legitimacy of influencer boxers, often labeling them “YouTube nerds.” In response, ‘The Problem Child’ hasn’t been shy about taking verbal jabs at McGregor, hoping to get his attention and secure a fight, hoping for what ‘Mystic Mac’ refers to as a “red p-nty night.” However, McGregor has remained unfazed, prompting Jake Paul to continue taking pokes at him from time to time.
A few months ago, ‘The Problem Child’ offered Mike Perry a job after the Irishman allegedly dismissed him from BKFC. Paul, with his brother Logan Paul by his side, extended the offer to Perry while advising McGregor to focus on his own return from a lengthy hiatus during an episode of his podcast, BS with Jake Paul. Following the fight, Jake Paul stated, “Mike Perry, as you got fired by Conor McGregor from BKFC, we will hire you at Betr into a partnership and give you some sort of role. We’ll figure out what that’s going to be.”
However, when Jake was interrupted by his older brother, Logan Paul, who thought this was disrespectful to a veteran fighter like ‘Platinum’, Jake defended his offer, explaining, “We’re just giving him another stream of income. He can keep fighting. We can maybe start a podcast with him or something; we’ll figure it out.”
What’s your perspective on Mike Perry’s ongoing struggle to secure a fight? Do you think fighters are genuinely turning him down, or is Conor McGregor’s influence behind keeping him out of the ring? Or is there another factor at play? Share your thoughts below.
