Breaking records seems to be just another day at the office for the National Women’s Soccer League. Hardly a moment passes without this American women’s domestic league witnessing a team or player etch a new milestone into the history books. The latest chapter could be written by Bay FC, as their impending clash with Trinity Rodman and the Washington Spirit puts them on track to surpass the Chicago Stars’ previous record.
Well, if you’re looking to block your calendars, then wait! That’s because the match we are talking about will take place exactly four months from today on August 23. The Washington Spirit will be traveling to face Bay FC but not in their regular home stadium called PayPal Park. Rather, this Matchday 17 fixture will be played at Oracle Park, which is the home of MLB’s San Francisco Giants.
As projected, conducting this game on the baseball-dedicated stadium would see Bay FC break the NWSL’s attendance record. To recall, it was set just last year by the Chicago Stars, ironically by hosting their regular season game against Bay FC at the Wrigley Field. Over 35,038 fans came to watch the clash at the home ballpark of Major League Baseball side Chicago Cubs.
