Well, Usman Nurmagomedov is indeed the younger brother of Umar Nurmagomedov. While the older brother dominated the bantamweight division at UFC, the younger brother fought as a lightweight under the banner of Bellator FC. With the late Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov as their uncle, the brothers were bound to enter the land of martial arts. And it was indeed the guidance of the legendary coach and a relentless group of peers that brought them to success in the realm of MMA.
Well, Usman Nurmagomedov has already become the Bellator lightweight champion in 2022, by defeating Patricky Pitbull. He has even defended his belt twice already (if we don’t count the fight against Brent Primus, which was overturned to a no-contest). And now, he is set to defend his belt one more time on the 25th of January against Paul Hughes. On the other hand, his brother is set to fight for the UFC bantamweight title at UFC 311. The bad blood between ‘Young Eagle’ and Merab Dvalishvili is already smoldering.

In a conversation with MMA Junkie, the younger brother said, “Honestly, yes, for me it’s a little hard. I want to be there with Umar for his fight, first time for him fighting for a title. But any time it doesn’t matter. For me, it’s the most important that these guys will win. That’s what’s most important. Abubakar Nurmagomedov is also an older cousin to the ‘Young Eagle’. The former 3-time Combat Sambo World Champion has already parted ways with the UFC.
