The Mavs were under immense pressure tonight as they headed to the Crypto.com Arena for the first time since the Luka Doncic trade. However, despite emotions running high, they managed to keep the competition alive against the mighty Lakers. But things took an unfortunate turn when Dante Exum was forced to leave the game midway due to a scary clash with LeBron James.
The incident occurred in the closing seconds of the third quarter. By now, it’s public knowledge that if King James is driving to the basket, its smarter to get out of his way. Looks like Exum didn’t get the memo because he jumped to contest Bron’s potential dunk attempt as the 6’9 forward attacked the basket at full speed. Sure, Exum was able to force the ball out of the Lakers star’s hands. But concerns grew when the two collided mid air and Dante fell straight to the floor in immense agony.
Visibly shaken up by the hit, Exum screamed “Oh my God!” as his teammates rushed to check on him. Replay showed that he might have taken an accidental hit to the face and his midsection from a soaring LeBron. Meanwhile, LBJ landed right on his feet, almost unbothered by the contact. Just shows what a freight train he is.
Sure enough, Exum could not continue playing because of the hit and headed straight to the locker room.
