In 2022, Casas proved he had what it takes by clocking in at 50.40 in the 100m butterfly at the U.S. Nationals in Irvine, California. He secured a spot on Team USA in the 400m freestyle relay, two years after his Tokyo Olympics heartbreak. However, at the 2023 World Championships, Casas couldn’t qualify for more than one event. He missed out on the 100m freestyle and 200m backstroke but clinched third place in the 100m butterfly.
He then shifted his focus to the 200 IM and barely made it to the eighth position to qualify. While he clinched silver with a time of 1:57.47, he only managed to secure fourth place in the event at the World Championships final. In 2023, Casas won the 100m butterfly in 50.80 at the TYR Pro Swim Series in Florida, tying with Michael Andrew, who set the Pro Swim Series record in 2021. But that wasn’t it for Casas. The day before, in the 200m freestyle, he achieved his personal best with a time of 1:48.88.
