Will Kristaps Porzingis & Jrue Holiday Play Tonight vs the Kings? Boston Celtics Injury Report Amid Major Concern

The Boston Celtics are amidst a six-game road trip and it seems they are on cruise control. That’s because the C’s have won back-to-back games at the start of their road trip. Now, Boston has set its eye on the next target, Sacramento. Jayson Tatum and Co. will head to the Golden 1 Center to face the Kings. They come into this matchup with a dominating recent win over the Trail Blazers, 129-116. The star of the show was none other than Tatum himself. The 27-year-old led the team in scoring despite playing through an injury dropping a 30-point performance topped by nine assists and nine rebounds.

However, Tatum was helped massively by his teammates as Sam Hauser and Derrick White chipped in 24 and 17 points, respectively. This was a more impressive win, given that they were without several superstars. The Celtics missed Kristaps Porziņģis, Jrue Holiday and even shooting guard Jaylen Brown. While they were able to hold their ground without three of their key players, Boston fans will hope they return soon to the hardwood. That brings us to the question: Will Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday suit up tonight?

Boston Celtics injury report ahead of the battle at Golden 1 Center

The Boston Celtics will be eyeing a sixth straight win tonight against the Sacramento Kings. However, to be able to do that, they’ll need to be at full strength. The C’s played their last game without superstars Kristaps Porziņģis and Jrue Holiday. So, will they be back in action tonight? Starting with the big man, Kristaps Porziņģis. The 7-foot-2 Boston center missed Sunday’s win because of an unknown illness. Unfortunately, Porzingis is still on the injury report. He is questionable for tonight’s game and will be a game-day decision.

He has already missed a significant amount of the regular season due to a foot injury. So, Boston will not take any chances with the 29-year-old. However, he will certainly be missed if he doesn’t play tonight. So far, he’s just played 35 games but when he’s on the court, the Celtics look much better. He’s averaging 19.5 points and 6.9 rebounds while shooting 48.6 percent from the field. So, Boston will hope he’s fit to play. However, his fitness isn’t the only concern for the Celtics. Why? Well, Jrue Holiday is also on the injury list.

Boston’s backup point guard also did not play against Portland on Sunday. He unfortunately missed the game due to a shoulder injury. Well, there’s more bad news as he still hasn’t returned to full fitness. Holiday is questionable for tonight’s matchup and that could be another big blow for the Celtics. The 34-year-old is having a solid campaign averaging 10.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists. If missing two of your key players wasn’t enough trouble! The C’s have more to deal with. The most hurting absence for Boston will be of their superstar, Jaylen Brown.

The 28-year-old has already missed three straight games and is set to miss tonight’s game as well as the game after that. Needless to say, his absence is a massive blow for the Celtics. Brown is suffering from a bone bruise with posterior impingement in his right knee. It’s unfortunate to see a player of Brown’s caliber go down just before the playoffs. However, Boson fans will take a sigh of relief because he is set to be re-evaluated on Monday. The C’s will hope his injury is nothing serious as he’s a key player for the organization. Lastly, Xavier Tillman is also out due to a knee injury. Amid these injuries, the question is how will Joe Mazzulla navigate through this crisis?

How can the Boston Celtics line up for tonight?

The defending champions have held their ground despite these injuries and their HC Joe Mazzulla will hope they’ll continue that tonight. With Jaylen Brown injured and a big question mark over Kristaps Porziņģis and Jrue Holiday’s fitness, other players will have to step up tonight in Sacramento. One of them will be Jayson Tatum who’s managing his injury but isn’t on the report at the moment. Tatum is averaging a stellar 27.2 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 5.9 assists. So, he’ll have to emulate his last performance tonight as well.

Here’s how the Celtics can start:

Position Starter
PG Derrick White
SG Jrue Holiday (questionable)
SF Sam Hauser
PF Jayson Tatum
C Kristaps Porzingis (questionable)

Overall, this will be a great game. That’s because the Kings are a play-in race and hungry to win games. On the flip side, Boston is hard-hit with injuries and will be short-handed against Sacramento making it a close game. However, given Boston’s form, they’ll still be favorites to win this matchup. So, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top as the ball hits the air tonight at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.
